This week has been a roller-coaster of emotions as Tool’s Maynard announces that the new album probably won’t be released in April, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor announces his collaboration with British rapper Kid Bookie and we learned that Tom DeLonge used to hunt for big foot while on tour with Blink-182 (probably the biggest wtf moment, even though we can kind of learn to expect these things from the A&A frontman.) But now, the light is shining brightly at the end of the tunnel, with Tobias Forge, aka Cardinal Copia has reveleaed that work is underway for Ghost’s next album.
Originally, the plan was for new material to be released in 2020, but in a recent interview with Billboard, it seems that Forge is already hard at work writing new music. Talking to Billboard, Forge says “Luckily this time around I feel very certain as to what I want to do. I have tons of bits and pieces and stuff written, and I know that once I start working that there’s going to be a record which feels very inspired.” Ghost has been announced for the Australian Download line-up as well as touring Europe with Metallica this summer on June 18th and 20th and with all of our fingers crossed, we’re hoping that they’ll be over to celebrate festival season in the UK , too. I mean, they’re in the area, right?
“The dramaturgic nature of the records and the stories are getting more and more intertwined nowadays, which I like. It’s kind of like writing a series, I guess; You have your characters and you can still fuck with them and add new things and take things away. You can do whatever you want, which is always enticing from a creative standpoint.”
